Girls ready for after-school soccer practice

2016 - After-school Soccer/Football Program Coming Up in August..................

After-school Soccer/Football Program

July 2015, PEYTSAR conducted an after-school soccer program at Kabalega Primary school in Masindi, Uganda. The  program went well. More than 180 students participated, both girls and boys aged 8 - 16. The passion and interest was very very high. They always wanted to play and explore their natural talents.

As founder of program, I was gratified to see these disadvantaged children play, learn, and excel.

We carried out some data collection which shows that at the beginning of the program, over 80 girls filled our registration form. We (staff members) thought this was a massive number of girls who were eager to participate. compared to only 63 boys.

Towards the end of our program, the numbers of girls gradually increased up to 96;  the  number of boys increased hugely to 109. It looks as if the girls were more motivated to play the sport at first, while the boys became more interested as they observed what was going on.

Volunteer Coaches or Mentors

We are really grateful for our volunteer coaches or mentors who have helped these young children. In 2013, at the beginning of the PEYTSAR program, we had only 4 active coaches. Now, we have 11, including our female coach/mentor who also acts as secretary. With her example and help, we expect more girls to join the PEYTSAR program.
