Track & Field Program

After-school Track & Field Program, 2015

From February 23rd  to April 1st, 2015, PEYTSAR conducted a track & field after-school training program at  Kabalega Primary School in Masindi Uganda. We registered 169 students from primary three to primary seven. Our volunteer coaches or mentors worked tirelessly to train these student athletes in skills that they needed in order to compete in sub-county, district, regional and national competitions.

We taught them the foundation techniques of running, sprinting, throwing, and jumping. They were quick to grasp these skills. Then we organized a mini-competition for them. That was fun. You could see development happening in these students.  We selected  many to go and represent our PEYTSAR program and to represent their school. At sub-county they did great and moved to district competition.

At district level, there were 15 competitive primary schools. Our PEYTSAR  track & field team performed well. For the first time they were the best second runner-up.

Both staff members and students embraced each other after earning the second best posittion. Our efforts, courage, and determination were appreciated by many. I do thank you all for your support to make this happen. Remember "children should never be left in danger." (David Beckham) It is always better to play and have fun.
